This is one of the famous “fiabas” of an Italian dramatist, in which fantastic subject unites the Venetian folk commedia dell'arte and “high” comedy about truth and justice. Carnival stylistics of the play gives unlimited freedom as well for director as for performers. For this reason there is variety of masks in the stage edition: from ancient to modern and cognate ones. Transformations and metamorphoses - that is the element of this performance. But heroes will not only deceive, be mistaken and take the appearance of each other. Here the buffoonery is border with poetical seriousness. Magic is only the means of special theatrical performance. The main thing is, of cause, the love – strong as in fairy tales, spiritual and extraordinarily sensitive.
